Wow, just wow!

Tonight’s dram is matured in Japanese Mizunara oak – which reportedly produces the most-complex flavors of any oak in the universe – and it’s a Glenmorangie, so expectations are through the roof. I’ve had a Glendalough (Irish single malt) finished in Mizunara oak, which was amazing, and I’ve had many (30) amazing Glenmorangie drams. A Tale of Tokyo opens with sweet oranges, dark chocolate, tart cherries, and tree-fresh underripe peaches, followed by white pepper, ground cinnamon, vanilla, and malt, then enters the sandalwood, cedar, fennel, heavily-toasted almonds, and mandarin oranges. The Mizunara really comes through in the finish, with oodles of flavor complexity. The thin-but-clingy legs and creamy full-mouthfeel deliver an incredibly satisfying finish. Wow, just wow! Drink slow, drink long, drink a variety, drink often.
