Outstanding
I really enjoy Glendalough Distillery and am a big Madeira fan. This little whiskey is outstanding for a NAS at that price point.
Raspberries, cherries, and apples
Taking my Glendalough experience to the next level, I found a limited release (456 bottles) Madeira Cask dram. It opens with fresh fruits: raspberries, cherries, and apples. While these fruits linger, they are joined by white grapes. The legs are thin, but clingy, delivering a medium-length finish that is much more spicy than in-the-mouth, with raisin and a subtle dark chocolate. This is a comfortable, enjoyable dram, almost like drinking a sweet fruit juice – or a nice fruity wine. Drink slow, drink long, drink a variety, drink often.
