Glasgow 1770 Peated Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Collection: Glasgow
Glasgow 1770 Single Malt Scotch Whisky Peated, is the rich and smoky expression. The finest Scottish concerto barley is smoked to 50ppm using aromatic heather-rich peat sourced from the Scottish Highlands.
Distilled slowly in the traditional copper pot stills using the incredibly pure water of Loch Katrine, Glasgow 1770 Peated is matured in American virgin oak casks and finished in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks.

Get this if you like leather, smoke, BBQ, oak and PX Sherry all in a glass
Really a beautiful nose; smoke forward, with salted caramel, leather notes, some good BBQ meat notes, and the sherry finish fills in with dark fruits semi-dried, very slightly spicy. Notes of a musty library filled with leather-bound books sneaks in every time you go to take a sip out of the glencairn. Smokey BBQ meat right of the rip, the good savory salt-and-pepper kind; leathery goodness follows and the sweet dried fruits layered underneath. Body is rich but difficult to splice out from the peated finish, which brings in a slight oaky astringent along with some herbal sweetness. The fault with this may simply be that the actual malt is overwhelmed by the sherry/oak barrels and peat--though, those aspects are fantastic. Value? Purchase price $5 above distillery-published MSRP, though the military discount removes that. As a comparison, Benriach's The Smoky Twelve is a similar concept, a bit cheaper, and you get a better foundation of whisky (but much different in flavor profile). This perhaps isn't a special drink, but it suits my preferences perfectly well--peat, PX sherry, a little leather and oak and BBQ meat. The lowland malt never shines, but...I really can't complain. Can't complain about the service, shipping, or cost (especially the shipping cost). Everything arrived safely and secure, and relatively quickly.
Glasgow 1770 Peated will be one of my favorite smoke whisky ...
Rich & Smoky and some nice sweetness
