El Ateo Small Batch Reposado Tequila
From the highlands of Jalisco’s southern Los Altos region, El Ateo Small Batch Reposado Tequila emerges as a refined expression of craftsmanship and heritage. Produced under NOM 1635 using 100% Tequilana Weber agave grown in the fertile soils of Guanajuato, each batch is a tribute to traditional tequila-making. The agave hearts are slow-cooked in stone and brick ovens, crushed by tahona, and fermented in open-air stainless steel tanks using deep well water, preserving the purity and character of the plant before double distillation in stainless pot stills with copper coils. Rested in used American white oak bourbon barrels, this reposado develops a complexity that speaks to both tradition and patience.
On the nose, the aroma opens with warm oak and sweet cooked agave, unfolding into soft waves of vanilla, butterscotch, and a touch of baking spice. Hints of black pepper, minerals, and delicate dried cherries add depth, inviting the first sip. The palate delivers a rich balance—earthy agave meets the creamy sweetness of caramel and vanilla, while subtle briny undertones mingle with cinnamon, dried fruits, and a whisper of citrus. Each note feels layered, building toward a finish that is both smooth and gently spiced, lingering with oak and a touch of pepper.
Bottled at 40% ABV, El Ateo Small Batch Reposado is perfect neat or on the rocks, where its depth can be fully appreciated, yet it also elevates crafted cocktails like a Reposado Old Fashioned or a premium Paloma. More than a tequila, it is a sip of Mexico’s artisanal soul—made for those who value authenticity, patience, and flavor in every drop.
