Unbelievably complex and well-balanced
Tonight’s dram takes me back to my favorite English distillery, Cotswolds, for their cask-strength Bourbon Cask (59.1%). It opens with a buttery burst of apricots, peaches, honey, and spices, followed by cinnamon, freshly cracked black pepper corns, cloves, and toasted oak, then tart lemon sherbet enters, along with a heavy dose of vanilla bean, then raisins and toffee, and finally, grapefruit zest. The buttery mouthfeel and heavy-clingy legs deliver and oh-so-scrumptious finish of spicy, lemony, peppery, malty, carnalized figs. This is an unbelievably complex and well-balanced dram that must be sipped very slowly to get every flavor. Wow! Drink slow, drink long, drink a variety, drink often.
Cotswold’s Bourbon Cask Single Malt
This whisky is very good! Any of the high proof Cotswold’s seem to be great spirits. I gave the Bourbon Cask 4 stars simply because i also purchased the Cotswold Sherry Cask Single Malt at the same time…and I thought that one was a excellent…a real 5-star whisky. I’m quite happy I bought both of them.
