Distilled in 2014 at Bunnahabhain on Scotland’s rugged Islay coast, this 10 Year Old peated single malt was matured for a decade before independent bottler Duncan Taylor gave it a final nine-month rest in one of their signature octave casks. The smaller cask intensified the whisky’s character, producing a rare single cask release with only limited bottles drawn. Crafted from malted barley, water, and yeast, it captures the maritime soul of Islay in concentrated form.
Smoke and sea breeze lead the nose, followed by notes of toasted oak, vanilla, citrus peel, and gentle peat. The palate unfolds with layered sweetness, charred wood, and a lingering smoky finish shaped by the octave cask influence. Best enjoyed neat to appreciate its depth, though a small splash of water reveals brighter fruit and spice beneath the peat.
