Primus Carménère Apalta 2023 is a Chilean red from the Apalta area of the Colchagua Valley. The 2023 vintage is offered in one naturally corked 750ml bottle at 14% ABV / 28 proof, with D.O. Apalta and “Made with Organic Grapes” stated on the package. Primus describes its Apalta vineyards as organic, with well-drained clay-loam soils and rocky material. Grapes are harvested by hand and double selected before fermentation in open stainless-steel tanks with native yeasts.
After fermentation, the wine remains on its skins to build structure and soften the finish; selected lots are then blended and aged in French oak for twelve months. Producer notes describe aromas of red fruit, cedar, and boldo, followed by cherry, pepper, and rosemary on a fresh, fruity palate. Silky, velvety tannins provide volume without obscuring the herbal and fruit detail. The deep red capsule, patterned Primus emblem, Carménère name, and Apalta designation complete the bottle’s clean, modern presentation.
