Pio Cesare Oltre Langhe DOC 2022 is an estate-grown Piedmont red that brings regional and international varieties together under the Langhe denomination. Pio Cesare identifies the blend as Nebbiolo, Barbera, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot, grown across several Langhe villages and vineyard exposures. The 2022 vintage is bottled in a naturally corked 750ml format at 14.5% ABV / 29 proof. Its name, Oltre, means “beyond,” reflecting a wine designed to extend beyond the estate’s traditional regional combinations.
Fermentation and skin maceration take place in stainless-steel tanks. The wine then ages for nearly twelve months, principally in large French and Eastern European oak barrels, with a smaller portion in French oak barriques. Pio Cesare describes moderate acidity, round tannins, intense structure, and fleshy fruit, with the composition balancing the character of Langhe grapes against Cabernet, Merlot, and Petit Verdot. The bottle carries a red capsule, the Oltre emblem, and Pio Cesare’s distinctive white-and-black Langhe label.
