Martínez Lacuesta Vermut Blanco 750 mL is a sweet white vermouth from Haro in Rioja, Spain. The producer makes it from a white wine base and macerates a selection of 24 aromatic plants in barrels used for its wines. Pale yellow in the glass, it opens with the producer’s described floral and herbal aromas.
Look for chamomile and mint on the nose, joined by a touch of vanilla sweetness. The producer notes liquorice, cinnamon and ginger on the palate, followed by a bitter edge from wormwood and artemisia. The finish brings its herbal bitterness into focus while the floral and spice notes remain present.
Serve it cold with a slice of lemon and an olive, as Martínez Lacuesta recommends. This is one 750 mL bottle at 15% ABV, presented separately from the producer’s three- and six-bottle cases. Choose it for a Spanish-style aperitif when a floral, gently spiced white vermouth is called for.
