Chateau La Gaffelière is 1st Growth in Saint Emilion. This estate is steep in history, they're one of the oldest family-owned vineyards dating back as far as the 1400s. The Estate didn't start producing wine until the 17th century. This Gothic-styled Chateau had built a reputation as one of the finest producers in all of St-Emilion by the 18th century.
This Château's second wine, Clos La Gaffelière, was born in 1985. This outstanding second label is produced mainly from young vines. La Clos is harvested and produced according to the high standards set forth by the first label: pruning, cover, de-leafing, green harvest, and hand-picking. In the cellar, the same technical process sets the pace for successive stages of vinification. This wine is a blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. It is a “wine for pleasure” that can be enjoyed in its youth along with 10 years of aging potential.
