After retiring from the Army with three assignments in Europe, I thought I was an expert -- or close to an expert -- on Scotch. I was not. After my retirement, an Air Force friend who had two assignments in Scotland introduced my wife and me to Balvenie Double Barrel, and it has now been our favorite Scotch for over three decades. We have tried and enjoyed many other Scotches since our introduction to Balvenie; however, Balvenie remains our favorite since the first sip.
